Evening Primrose Oil-Refined
Evening primrose oil (Oenothera biennis) is extracted from seeds
of the yellow evening primrose. It contains essential fatty
acids, including gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which help cell
growth and development. Native to North America, it has been
used since the 1930s for skin conditions. There is some evidence
to suggest that evening primrose oil is effective for treating
rheumatoid arthritis and diabetic neuropathy. Evening primrose
oil can be taken as capsules, or applied on the skin for skin
disorders. It has been administered orally in clinical trials
at doses between 6 and 8 g/day in adults and 2 and 4 g/day in
children. |

Pumpkin Seed
Oil-Refined
Pumpkin seed oil, also called Kuerbiskernoel, is derived
from the Styrian pumpkin. Pumpkin seed oil also contains
over 60% of unsaturated fatty acid and is rich in vegetable
protein and vitamins. Many medical researches have announced
the health benefits provided by using pumpkin seed oil,
including aiding in the prevention and treatment of prostate
and bladder problems, and regulating cholesterol levels.Pumpkin
seed oil is usually taken as capsules. |

Black Currant
Oil-Refined
Blackcurrant seed oil is also rich in gamma-linolenic
acid, along with other important polyunsaturated fatty
acids. It is an important ingredient for maintaining the
elasticity of the skin, also excellent in products for
sensitive skin, eczema or psoriasis. Blackcurrant oil
is also reported to boost the immune system, act as an
anti-inflammatory and may be an effective addition to
formulations intended to ease muscular and joint aches
and pains. Black currant oil can be taken as capsules.
250mg capsule, 3 capsules per day. |

Borage Seed Oil-Refined
Borage oil is derived from the seeds of the borage (Borago
officinalis) plant. Borage Seed Oil has the highest concentration
of gamma linolenic acid (GLA) naturally found, higher
than evening primrose oil, and black currant seed oil.
It has been widely studied for its ability to calm and
reduce inflammation, and has been used successfully to
alleviate the pain, swelling, and joint stiffness associated
with rheumatoid arthritis. Borage oil may be taken as
a supplement, mixed into food, or used in topical applications
as an additive in a 10% ratio with other base oils. This
oil should not be heated, and must be used cold to retain
health benefits. For the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis,
the amounts of GLA from borage used in successful double-blind
trials were 1.4~2.8 grams daily for at least two months.
Although 360 mg of GLA daily from borage oil has been
used to treat people with eczema, controlled research
has not supported its use for this condition. Topically,
0.5 ml of borage oil may be applied to areas of seborrhea
daily for two weeks, and then three times a week until
the condition is stable. |
